Chris Davis Breaks Epic Hitting Slump With Single Against Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox will host the Baltimore Orioles today, with an 11:05 AM first pitch as part of the annual Patriots' Day festivities in Boston. Boston right-hander Rick Porcello loaded the bases on a Trey Mancini double and two walks to Dwight Smith and Rio Ruiz and was looking for an inning-ending out when Davis stepped up to the plate. It marked his first home run since blasting one against ex-teammate Zack Britton and the Yankees on August 24 of last season. Davis hit that home run off his former teammate Zack Britton.

Out of all the great storylines to follow this MLB season, the biggest story taking the league by storm is the ongoing struggles for Chris Davis.

It's been a trying season for the 33-year-old Davis. Davis lined a two-out single to right field driving in two runs.

Davis is working on a brutal stretch and has not recorded a hit all season. It took Davis until Saturday to break out of that slump, which lasted 54 at-bats.

Where does Davis go from here? If nothing else, he gives casual fans a reason to care about the Orioles, and that's not an easy task.
