Magic Johnson stepping down as Lakers president of basketball operations

This certainly was not the season L.A. fans imagined when LeBron James chose to sign with the Lakers in the offseason. Back in 2015, Carr referenced the Lakers legend when talking about who he tries to emulate. We're halfway there with LeBron coming (last summer). "I'm looking forward to going back to being an ambassador".

I'm a free bird and I've been handcuffed.

"That was a great feat the other day, and I couldn't even tweet it out and say, "Hey, congratulations man, '" Magic said at the press conference". This despite Johnson meeting with the two parties in separate meetings as recently as the weekend. Magic claimed he didn't finalize his decision until Tuesday morning.

"I'm told Kyrie Irving will grant the Lakers an interview this offseason, this summer", Smith said on his radio show. "But I knew I couldn't face her face-to-face and tell her". You know, and so, when Ben Simmons called and we went through the proper channels and they made me look the bad guy out of that situation. They haven't made the playoffs since 2013. The Lakers went on to lose by the final of 104-101, as they wrapped up the 2018-19 campaign with a record of 37-45.

Ultimately, Magic said he believes he will be happier being "Magic" without the restrictions and pressure of a franchise executive.

Johnson's desire for his old life wasn't the only reason for his departure.

"The system is full" - Trump tells migrants
The President said that his administration has made progress in its push to dub the border situation as "an absolute emergency". But when Mr Trump campaigned for Presidency, he promised to build a "big, handsome wall", which he said would not be a fence.

Williams has yet to comment on if Johnson will join her camp. I don't want - we love Luke. A short time later, the Lakers released a statement about Johnson's decision.

Johnson retired in 1991 after he tested positive for HIV, but later returned briefly to the Lakers as a player and a coach.

Johnson said he had not informed Buss or Pelinka of his decision before talking to reporters. A year and a half later, he had landed his top free agent, LeBron James, and promised to bring in many more stars.

It doesn't sound as if Rob Pelinka is getting Magic Johnson's endorsement.

However, there were some other issues which were frustrating Johnson. They opened with a 20-14 record, but James suffered a strained groin on December 25.

Nothing has gone according to plan for the Lakers this season. There's a gentleman across the hall who is a born Laker.
