Liverpool rescue win over Fulham as Mohamed Salah stutters once again

They just haven't won a title with Liverpool.

Liverpool go into the global break two points clear at the top of the Premier League following their victory over Fulham, though title rivals Manchester City have a game in hand over the Reds.

That proved the only moment of the first half to remember as Liverpool struggled to reach their peak powers, though they started better immediately after the break, with Van Dijk forcing a good save out of Rico from a header.

Experienced midfielder Milner was brought on by Jurgen Klopp to help see out a 1-0 victory, only for him to send a mindless clearance skywards, which Virgil van Dijk and Alisson left for one another and allowed Ryan Babel to cancel out Sadio Mane's 26th-minute opener.

Neil Mcleman believes City's goal scoring machine Sergio Aguero deserves to be given the honorary award for his impeccable record this season.

The motion to extend the UK's exit was put forward to MPs at Westminster yesterday (Thursday) and was passed by 413 votes to 202. There is no path to victory for May without winning many more of the Brexiteers' votes.

The Cottagers might be dead and buried at the foot of the table, but this game was no walkover and Liverpool could have easily dropped points against Scott Parker's outfit.

Add to that three goals in the Champions League and you have perhaps the most important and best player in the Premier League given Sterling's age and potential for improvement still to come. The Senegal forward made it 11 goals in his last 11 games by converting a cut-back from Roberto Firmino in the 26th minute at Craven Cottage.

It was Mane's seventh goal in the last five games and that run has been well timed considering Mohamed Salah's now seven-game drought.

Fulham's recent results against Liverpool do not make for impressive reading.

The Senegal worldwide - whose two goals helped Jurgen Klopp's men beat Bayern Munich 3-1 at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League round of 16 - slotted home after 25 minutes following good link-up play with Roberto Firmino.
