After seeing the Maroon 5 performance, people rushed to Twitter with their thoughts, including celebrities: Criminal Minds star Aisha Tyler questioned the move while George Takei blamed the organizers for even letting Levine take the Super Bowl stage to begin with. The hashtag surfaced a year ago when Justin Timberlake performed at Super Bowl LII.
Many Super Bowl watchers, however, were more unimpressed by what Levine wasn't wearing - with some declaring the shirtless last-quarter of his halftime performance the sweaty second coming of "Nipplegate".
Despite the criticism from some, many fans were loving Maroon 5's performance.

The highlight of the performance for a lot of people was when Levine took off his shirt on goal, unlike the Superbowl malfunction that will go down in history between Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
Whether those "critics" he noted had pushed him to consider the protests of others, reevaluate a show which some deemed "boring", or simply to change stylists, well... we'll let you be the judge.
