Notre Dame graduate, fiancé killed while driving to their wedding

Kathryn Schurtz, 35, of Fanwood, and her fiancé Joseph D. Kearney, were killed when a tractor-trailer collided with their vehicle on Interstate 78 in Berks County, Pennsylvania, according to Schurtz's obituary.

An engaged New Jersey couple was killed in a fiery highway vehicle crash while driving to their wedding last week in Pennsylvania.

Schurtz lived in Jersey City, New Jersey, and was head of platform partnerships for Oracle Data Cloud in New York City.

Kathryn Schurtz, 35, of Jersey City grew up in Fanwood and loved reading, cooking and having new adventures with her fiance, according to the post. She is survived by her parents, two sisters and a 3-month-old nephew.

A tractor-trailer was going west when the trucker realized too late that traffic ahead was slowing for a construction zone, police said.

A friend posted on Facebook that she won't forget the "positive impact" Schurtz had on her. They were driving to their wedding in Pittsburgh.
