Celtics Guard Jabari Bird Facing Strangulation, Kidnapping Charges

Jabari Bird has been working out, preparing for his second season with the Boston Celtics, trying to find his way into a crowded rotation.

Jabari Bird was arrested on Friday night on multiple charges including kidnapping, strangling and assault.

Bird, 24, is expected to appear in court Monday, where he will face charges of assault and battery, strangulation and kidnapping.

The victim was taken to a separate hospital to be treated for injuries sustained.

The Celtics selected Bird with the 58th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and signed him to a two-year deal in July. The Boston Celtics shooting guard was detained by Boston police after what's being described as a domestic incident.

It was reported Bird was in custody at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and the Boston Police Department's domestic violence unit is involved.

Although details are scarce, the Celtics are clearly concerned, issuing a statement.

Bird, who was drafted previous year, will appear in court Monday, where he will be officially charged.

"We are actively gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time", the statement read.

During the most recent regular National Basketball Association season, Bird appeared in 13 games and averaged three points per game.
