It's officially pride weekend again in New York City and San Francisco, as well as other cities across America.

Many attendees said they view the annual parade as a way to show the nation that the gay community still has a long way to go to gain full acceptance in society.

Victoria Justice made a colorful statement as she sat on amfAR and Amazon's float at the NYC Pride parade today. Olivia Nadler, a CT resident attending her third parade, said "people that are oppressed are not going to go away, they're not going to be quiet, they're not going to be ignored".

Warrner said this was her first year attending the event in Chicago, but she's gone to a Pride Parade in Springfield, her hometown. This year's theme was "Remember the Past, Create the Future".

Once again, uniformed police officers were not permitted to join in the festivities.

Police said they received multiple complaints in 2016 about a man handing out anti-gay material at the parade. That's why I love coming to these things.
