Manchester City submit bid for Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt

Ajax whizkid Matthis De Ligt has admitted it would be hard to choose out of Juventus, Manchester United and Barcelona.

"I'm not in touch with anyone yet", De Ligt told TuttoMercatoWeb.

Juventus also want the 18-year-old Netherlands defender, but with his price-tag escalating they are now pretty much out of the running.

A caveat that has been mentioned is that City could go for De Ligt if one of their defenders picks up an injury during the summer - Vincent Kompany has one, but it doesn't appear too bad - or if rivals make a move for De Ligt - which Tottenham appear to have.

And, after Holland's 1-1 draw with Italy in Turin on Monday, De Ligt attempted to throw some light on the subject. I like to play at high levels. "I'm here with my national team, focused on this".

"Who would I choose between Juve, Barcelona and United?"

And he recognised that despite his tender age the time was right for him to sit down and think about his next steps in professional football. "At the moment I do not know, I'm on vacation and I can think about it". It's hard, they're all great teams.

And De Ligt specifically talked up the Serie A giants having turned out for his country at their home ground, the Allianz Stadium.

"I know that many clubs have come to Mino Raiola for me, and he told me this, and I do not know if they are called Juventus or PSV Eindhoven, but there's nothing for sure", addedf De Ligt.

"The stadium - I think it's a lovely building in a lovely city - Juve is a club with a great history, lots of titles and great players".
