Last week, Trump met with the highest ranking North Korean official in 18 years at the White House.

The two leaders are scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. local time on June 12 - 9 p.m.

With just one week left until the Singapore summit between President Trump and Kim Jong Un, National Security Adviser John Bolton is being carefully excluded from everything surrounding the event, including last week's visit by Kim Yong Chol.

The young leader was seen to have been overseeing Kim Yong-chol's US visit last week, as well as monitoring the talks between American and North Korean diplomats to finalize an agenda for the summit, ongoing at the Panmunjom, the truce village at the inter-Korean border.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has expressed interest in travelling to North Korea to meet Kim Jong-un, North Korean media reported on Sunday, adding another layer of possible intrigue onto the planning for next week's summit between President Donald Trump and the North Korean leader.

Putin recently admitted him and the billionaire "regularly talk over the phone" and both work together well at tackling issues of terrorism.

The summit was first announced in March, following a strong diplomatic push by South Korean President Moon Jae-in earlier this year.

Multiple officials are accusing National Security Advisor John Bolton of intentionally trying to thwart US talks with North Korea, according to CNN. "Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un are pretty much the same".

The decision to hold the summit on Sentosa makes logistical sense.

That official said USA negotiators' efforts to press for definitions of immediate, comprehensive, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization by North Korea had run into opposition from the White House.

South Korean government officials say they can not confirm anything.

Moscow hopes that the settlement process on the Korean Peninsula won't be disrupted, although there are no 100% chances of success, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters on Monday after a meeting of BRICS Foreign Ministers' Council.

Meanwhile, the United States team in Singapore ended weeklong discussions with North Korean officials last week and had finalized logistical details for the summit, which played a key role in giving Trump the confidence to reinstate the summit on Friday, CNN reported, citing a senior White House official.

In a letter to the president, seven influential Democrats warned that any outcome that would ease sanctions without a verification of Pyongyang's efforts to dismantle its nuclear and missile arsenal was "a bad deal".
