The first lady explained that both she and her husband will "always pay tribute" to the United States' military, veterans, and "the families who love them".

She underwent a surgical procedure on May 14 to treat a benign kidney condition and was released from the hospital on May 19.

Melania herself has dismissed speculation over her whereabouts, insisting she is at the White House in a tweet sent last Wednesday from her official account-although even this did not prevent people from speculating that the tweet may not have been sent by Melania.
