The company's first boring machine, named Godot, began digging almost a year ago in the parking lot of SpaceX headquarters near LAX global airport. The Boring Company is building tunnels under LA as a way of bypassing traffic completely, and the first one is nearly finished.

Elon Musk posted a video of a trip through the Boring Company's first tunnel under Los Angeles.

As far as the Boring Company goes, Musk envisions motorists' vehicles being lowered by elevators into tunnels and onto electric sleds that whisk them along to their destinations.

In a new video posted to his Instagram account, Musk shows a journey through the almost completed tunnel and revealed it is only awaiting "final regulatory approvals" before it becomes operational.

Those free rides could begin as soon as a month from now.

He also pointed out in his post that the underground transport system, originally designed for cars, will actually prioritize pedestrians and cyclists.

"Super huge thanks to everyone that helped with this project", he continued. Musk wrote on Instagram late Thursday. "Strong support from the public, elected officials and regulators is critical to success", says the real-world Iron Man.

The Hawthorne-based company is also digging a tunnel in Baltimore, Maryland, and advanced as a contender to dig a high-speed system connecting downtown Chicago and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

A project in Los Angeles is just one of several, is working on Boring Company.
