Brooklyn Nine-Nine cancelled after 5 seasons and the fans can't cope

Seth Meyers labelled the cancellation a "gut punch" and Sean Astin also lamented the news, as fans around the world let their displeasure be known.

It is the end of the road for the cop comedy series, which was the only remaining show from an outside studio, Universal TV, on Fox. According to the site, Netflix, Hulu, TBS, and NBC all made calls, though these might have been only exploratory in nature.

Fox says the final episode of the fifth and final season will air later this month.

Apocalypse-set sitcom The Last Man on Earth also hit the chopping block Thursday. Kristin Schaal, January Jones, and Mary Steenburgen co star along with a whos who of comedy celebrity guest stars.

Even the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast got involved with Melissa Fumero, who plays Amy Santiago declaring that the show has the best fans and that she is having a hard time processing the news.
